EDNA IRENE HAINES November 10, 1921 - May 26, 2011 Born November 10, 1921 to John and Charlotte (nee Cooper) Martin, in Winnipeg. She lived in the Norwood area before moving to St. James with her family. Edna attended Britannia and Linwood Schools and was of member of the Guards (Guides). Edna worked for the D.V.A. at Deer Lodge Hospital in 1943 and transferred to the Unemployment Insurance in December 1944, where she worked until April 1969 when she left to be married to Charles Edwin Haines. Edna was predeceased by her husband August 9, 1997; her mother in July 1979; father in April 1965; brothers John 1981, Doug 2000; sisters Hazel 1985, Grace 1994, Kay 2001 and Muriel 2003. Edna enjoyed baseball (Border Girls softball team) and bowling. She was involved in the Salvation Army Sunday School in St. James where she was a faithful member of the St. James Citadel and Heritage Park Temple. Edna was a favourite Aunt of all her nieces and nephews and always gave encouragement and help when needed. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
