AUDREY THELMA RAYMOND (nee GREYEYES) Audrey Thelma Raymond (nee Greyeyes) of Petersfield left this earth to be with her Lord and Saviour on May 23, 2011 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB. Audrey was born in Netley Creek on September 13, 1942 to John Greyeyes and Agnes Prince. Audrey graduated from Selkirk High School and started a career with Manitoba Telephone as an operator. Audrey married Gary Raymond on December 19, 1964 and they decided to relocate to Victoria, BC to expand their horizons where their only son Clayton was born. Her first year there, she started a new business of a greenhouse. With no knowledge of the plant, she decided to grow poinsettias. She proceeded to grow the largest poinsettia the island had ever seen and had her picture and story posted in the local paper. Although the greenhouse business did not work out for her, Audrey never forgot that first glorious poinsettia. She then continued her career as a telephone operator with TELUS in 1971, until her retirement in 2002. In 2008, Audrey returned to her hometown of Petersfield to spend her later years with her remaining family. She had fond memories of time spent with her cousins and nieces/nephews and was a good auntie to all. Audrey was a direct descendant of Chief Peguis and many branches of her family lived in Manitoba; including the tribal clans of Prince, Fontaine, Cochrane, Daniels, and Masons. Audrey is survived by her son Clayton Raymond of Victoria, BC; granddaughter Sheilah Sutherland of Whitehorse, NWT; great-granddaughter Chanel Jessica Sutherland of Whitehorse, NWT; sister Florence Frommelt of Selkirk, MB; brothers Morris, Ken, and Lloyd of Petersfield, MB; auntie Nora Cochrane, uncle Joe Prince, and uncle Harry Greyeyes. Predeceased by her parents John and Agnes Greyeyes; brothers Stanley, Lawson, Edgar, Purvis, Thomas, Howard Greyeyes and by sister Stella Masters. Lord, I know you recognize that every life we lose is a gift to be treasured, a loss to be mourned, and a part of our hearts forever. Thank you for understanding that although we believe in eternal life, it hurts so much to leave someone we love. Comfort those who are grieving, Lord. Fill them with the knowledge that you are grieving with them and will carry them through this difficult time. Amen A viewing will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB, on Saturday, May 28, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A celebration of life and interment will be held at St. George's Wakefield Church, Hwy. 9, Petersfield, MB on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
