PEARL ENEFER (nee Solomchuk) September 3/ October 9, 1919 - May 20, 2011 Only a month ago the toughest, sharpest, and most capable woman we'll ever know conceded that at age 91, she finally felt old. Peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2011, Pearl passed away at St. Boniface Hospital with family at her side. Pearl was predeceased by her husband Joseph Albert Bert Enefer, parents, Nicolas and Anastasia; brothers and sisters, Mary (Phillip); her big brother Dan (Mae), Sophie, Elizabeth (Albert), daughter Darlene Wilson, sons-in-law Marshall Armstrong-Collison and Jim Wilson. She is survived by daughter Elaine Armstrong-Collison, granddaughters Bethany Wilson and Megan Collison (Joshua), brother Edward (Esther) and many nieces and nephews. This fiercely independent woman was born near Pine Ridge, MB. Raised on rental farms through tough years, she was always an extremely hard worker. She worked outside with Dan and her dad who called her Pare , picking stones, potato bugs and milking cows when not at school. Unable to continue school after grade 11 due to tuition, she found work to help support her family. In Winnipeg, Pearl married Bert in 1949, and raised a family until Bert's sudden passing in 1964 left her alone with two young girls and a house. Loyal to her farm roots she expanded her vast garden and acquired all skills necessary to keep a home. Pearl found the strength to take it all on. Pearl was finally able to access an education when U.I. wanted a test-case to see if older workers could be retrained. At the age of 49 she graduated as a bookkeeper from Success Business College with the highest marks. When Pearl retired she really took to her new role. A consummate Grandmother, she was generous with baking, vegetables, knitting, and her legendary perogies. Her heart was too big for just her grandchildren so she loved to care for all the kids of her family, friends and neighbourhood, like her own. To all she WAS Gramma Pearl! Endless thanks to her friends and neighbours including Doris, Net, Henry, Lexie, Calvin, Pricilla, Harvey and Irene and nieces and nephews who never forgot her. Thanks also to staff and residents of Lions Manor, and homecare. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Mosaic Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
