Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH STUART GARDINER Joseph Stuart Gardiner passed away quietly in his home in Fairhope, Alabama, on March 22, 2011 at the age of 68. Joe was born on August 20, 1942 in Dauphin, Manitoba. Joe will be remembered by his wife Judy Gardiner; his daughter Erin (Dexter Mondor) Gardiner of Wawota, Saskatchewan and their children Charlie, Monroe and Rhys; his son Jeff Gardiner of Medicine Hat, Alberta; Judy's daughter Stephanie (fiancé David) Walker of Illinois and her sons Chase, Taylor and Walker; Judy's son Jody (Phyllis) Walker of Alabama and his children Christopher, Riley and Jacob. Joe is also survived by his sister Iris (Eugene) Harper of Brandon, Manitoba and their daughters Laura, Karen and Leanne; his brother George (Chris) Gardiner of Edmonton, Alberta as well as numerous cousins, nephews, aunts and uncles. Joe will also be missed by many friends north and south of the border. Joe was predeceased by his parents James Gardiner and Pearl (Gardiner) Glenn, and his stepfather Donavon Glenn. Joe spent many of his growing years in McCreary, Manitoba. When he left home his adventures took him across Manitoba, Alberta and Northwest Territories. Joe finally settled in Medicine Hat, Alberta working for AGT, then Telus, coaching and playing hockey, training field dogs and following his children to hockey rinks and pools across the province. In the late 1990s, after multiple life changing events, Joe followed work to Pennsylvania, Ohio and Alabama. Alabama agreed with Joe so much he set down roots again and spent the last decade building strong friendships in the tropical state. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the McCreary Municipal Cemetery with Mr. Colin Brodie officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to a charity of your choice.
