Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMURRAY ROSS ROBERTS Murray Roberts passed away with family at his side on Saturday, May 28, 2011 after a long and determined battle with illness at the age of 66. He will forever be remembered by his wife of 41 years, Monique (née Gobeil), his children Stefan, Patrick (Lori), and Danielle (Matt), and his granddaughter Gwyneth. Murray was predeceased by his parents Roscoe and Vera Roberts, and is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Cheyne (Larry), Lynne Roberts, Beth (Bill) McFee, Dorothy (Laurie) LeClair, and Kathy (Douglas) Bunkowsky. He will also be missed by his extended family and many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours, and fellow school bus drivers. Murray was born on November 15, 1944 and lived most of his life on the Roberts family farm near Osborne, Manitoba. He married Monique on July 5, 1969 and together they raised their family. He was a tireless and dedicated farmer who worked long hours under trying circumstances to improve his crops, his herd of beef cattle, and his family's well being. Even as his health deteriorated, he continued to be involved in farming thanks to the gracious help of friends and neighbours. Murray enjoyed the natural world around him, from prairie sunsets to thunderstorms to the wildlife that shared his land. Most of all, he loved being Papa to little Gwyneth. Mr. Roberts was also known to generations of children in the Domain area as their school bus driver, a role which he served in the community for three decades. A funeral service in Murray's memory will be led by Rev. Cathy Maxwell at Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Avenue in Winnipeg on Thursday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. In accordance with Murray's wishes, his ashes will be interred in the presence of immediate family members at Avonlea Cemetery near Domain after the service. A luncheon will be served for all who wish to visit with the family at the Domain Hall at 1:00 p.m. Please consider making a donation to either the Canadian Diabetes Association or the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation in memory of Murray
