DIANA JEAN HAWKINS (DUNSMORE)
Born: Jul 16, 1945
Date of Passing: May 26, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDIANA JEAN HAWKINS (nee DUNSMORE) 1945 2011 Diana Jean Hawkins, born July 16, 1945, passed away suddenly at her home near Teulon on May 26, 2011. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years, Dennis; mother Elsie (Wayne); daughter Amy (Trevor); grandchildren Xander and Katelyn; as well as several family members and friends. Diana was predeceased by her father Tom, brother Tommy and stepfather Clay. Diana was born in Winnipeg to Tom and Elsie, and moved with her family to Russell in 1952. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 1966, and worked various jobs in Winnipeg and Vancouver, as well as a short time teaching high school in Elm Creek. Diana and Dennis met while he was stationed in Russell with the RCMP, and they were married on September 6, 1969. They lived in Winnipeg, Regina, Pinawa, the Pas and Teulon before settling with their daughter Amy on an acreage near Teulon in 1982. This was Diana's favourite place, where she had room for her collection of animals; horses, ponies, dogs, cats, fish and a miniature donkey. Diana was an avid reader and a lover of nature. In her younger years, she spent many happy times at the family cabin at Silver Beach, on camping and fishing trips with Dennis and Amy, and at horse shows while Amy was growing up. In recent years, Diana enjoyed owning and breeding Welsh ponies, bird watching in her yard, and searching for gifts for her beloved grandchildren. A private gathering for family and friends will be held in celebration of her life, on June 11, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations to be made in Diana's name to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Dearly loved, deeply missed, never forgotten. Until we meet again.
