SYLVIA MAY RUDDOCK (nee WORTHINGTON) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Sylvia May Ruddock on May 31, 2011 at Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg following a lengthy struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis and its associated illnesses. Sylvia was 68 years old. She leaves to celebrate her life her husband Percy; her daughter Deanne (Ron), their sons, Andrew and Aaron; her daughter Loreen (Tori), and her loyal toy poodle Jasmine . As well as her siblings: sisters, Joan (Charlie), Beverly (Gary), Carol; brothers, Ron (Judy), Bill (Leslie); and sister-in-law Brenda (Don). As well as her many nieces and nephews, and her special friend Tina. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and John; her grandparents, Horace and Blanche Worthington, Minnie and John Currie; and her brother-in-law Don. Sylvia graduated from Churchill High and commenced work immediately for the Ford Motor Co. She married Percy (a career banker) June 5, 1965 and left Ford in 1968 when they transferred to Kenora, where their two daughters were born. Sylvia was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 1973. She faced her many challenges with a fierce independence, and her passion for life was demonstrated by her strength and commitment to family. Sylvia had a great appreciation for nature and an affinity for cooking. She loved violets and orchids and possessed an encyclopedia of knowledge surrounding all plants. In keeping with Sylvia's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment of her ashes will occur. A funeral service will be held: Wednesday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m., Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Arthritis Society, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6 (www.arthritis.ca) or to a charity of your choice. The family extends a special thank you to: Dr S. Kredentser, the home care workers who provided special care in Sylvia's time of need, the staff of Seven Oaks and Grace hospitals, and EVERYONE at the Health Sciences Centre / SICU for their expertise and compassion when urgently needed. TO THOSE I LOVED AND THOSE WHO LOVED ME Weep not for me, I'm free from pain, My earthly suffering is over, When I am gone, release me, let me go... I have so many things to see and do, You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears; Be happy that we had so many years. I gave to you my love, you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I travelled on alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve you must, Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on; So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near, and if you listen with your heart, you'll hear, All of my love around you soft and clear. I hope to meet you all again, in a peaceful happy place. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say "WELCOME HOME", LOVE MOM.
