REVEREND ERNEST CLIFFORD KAMATH Reverend Ernest Clifford Kamath, retired Roman Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of Winnipeg died on June 2, 2011 at the age of 73. Father Kamath was born on June 6, 1937 in Kodiyalbail, Mangalore, India where he received his early education. He was ordained to the priesthood, in Rome, on December 22, 1962. Incardinated into the Archdiocese of Kingston, Jamaica, Fr. Ernest served in various ministries including as High School Principal. Later he relocated to the Diocese of Kamloops before coming to the Archdiocese of Winnipeg in 1987. On November 30, 1989, Father Kamath was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Winnipeg. In the Archdiocese of Winnipeg, Fr. Ernest served as Pastor of St. Hyacinth's and St. John's Parishes in Portage la Prairie (1987 to 1994); Parochial Vicar at St. Edward the Confessor Parish, Winnipeg (1994 to 1995); Pastor of St. Erik's Parish in Eriksdale, Holy Cross, Ashern and St. Olaf, Lundar (1999 to 2000) and Pastor of St. Laurent Parish in St. Laurent while continuing to serve Eriksdale, Ashern and Lundar (2000 to 2002). In 2002 Fr. Ernest retired to Gimli where he provided sacramental ministry in Gimli, Camp Morton and Winnipeg Beach. Recently he moved to Winnipeg Beach. Funeral Prayers will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Winnipeg Beach on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Winnipeg Beach at 11:00 am. Most Reverend V. James Weisgerber presiding.
