IRMA WANKE Meine Kleine Susse Omi Irma Wanke was called Home on May 28, 2011 at the age of 90. We rejoice that by her faith she is now in the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Irma is survived by her children, Siegfried (Fred) and Charlotte, Ursula and Michael; grandchildren, Michael and Selma, David and Lisa, Peter and Tracy, Katie and Jeff; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Sarah, Reana, Riker and Hunter. She also leaves many family members in Canada and Germany. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Friedrich in 2001, her parents Ida and Otto Hengstler and brother Oskar. Omi was born in Effingshausen, Poland on May 16, 1921. Irma and Fritz were married on September 14, 1940 after a short courtship of two weeks. They immigrated to Canada with their two small children in August 1949 and settled in Manitoba. Omi loved her cabin at Red Rock Lake. Many happy summers were spent there with family and friends. Her family was of utmost importance to her and we are thankful we could enjoy her company for so many years. The family would like to thank Dr. Boscoe and staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care and support. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut St. on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Green Acres. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements by Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach.
