LILLIAN RODGERS March 25, 1916 - May 31, 2011 Lillian passed away in Nanaimo at age 95, after a life of love and giving of herself to others. She was born in Slocan, BC and moved to Winnipeg with her parents as a young child. She was educated in East Kildonan, attended University of Winnipeg for her B.A. and University of Manitoba for her diploma in Education. She taught school in East Kildonan before joining the RCAF in the Second World War, and was posted to the Maritimes. After the war, she began her Master's degree at McGill University in Montreal and then returned to Manitoba to marry her long-time love, Alan Rodgers and settle in Rennie, Manitoba to raise her family. She became involved in the community events and the school PTA. She returned to teaching in 1970 when her children were grown, and taught in the Whitemouth School until her retirement in 1980. She then began to enjoy a life of travel, more courses at U. of W., volunteering for the RWB, and visiting her grandchildren. She relocated to the West Coast in 1999 to enjoy the milder weather. She was predeceased by her husband Alan in 1978 and her daughter Judy in 1997. She is survived by her sons, John (Sharon), Garry (Rita); her daughter Cathie Colpitts; and her grandchildren, Evan, Richard, and Graham Colpitts and Bryan, Jamie, Emily and Alan Rodgers. She will also be remembered by many dear friends and those whose lives she touched in her career. There will be a private family remembrance at a later date. Mum, we will miss you so much - you were the best.
