DOROTHY LIVINGSTONE 1920 - 2011 Dorothy Aunt Dot Livingstone died after a brief illness on February 25, 2011 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. She was in her 91st year. Dorothy was born June 5, 1920 in Oldham Lancashire England. At Christmas in 1928 at the age of eight she came to Canada on the Duchess of Bedford with her family who settled in Winnipeg. In 1938, Dorothy married her one love Dave who predeceased her April 19, 1988. She is survived by her children David (Verna), Barbara (Donnie) and Rick (Billie). Her many grandchildren include Warren, Martin, Cameron Livingstone and Sam Cudmore; Ken and Peter Trueman; Michael, Kirsten, Brad and Aaron Livingstone. She was predeceased by her brother Les and his wife Margaret; and her sister Marie. She leaves to mourn, her younger sisters Edythe, Jean and husband Don and brother-in-law Garth Blachford. She is fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren to whom she was always Aunt Dot. Dorothy worked for most of her life in retail or in the restaurant business as a server or hostess. When she and Dave retired they spent many happy years living in the Florida Keys where Dave fished and Dorothy and her friend Betty shopped and played bingo. Here too Mom worked as a hostess for the Howard-Johnson Motel. When Dorothy's eye sight began to fail as a result of Macular Degeneration she received mobility training and other forms of support from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind where she made many friends. She returned this help by always being willing to volunteer for fund raising events. A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on Sunday June 5, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave (across from Brookside Cemetery).
