ERLENE SIGURBORG SOKAL (nee REYKDAL) It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Erlene Sokal on June 2, 2011, at Kin Place in Oakbank, Manitoba. She was predeceased by both of her parents, Victor and Eileen. Erlene will forever live affectionately in the hearts of her loving husband John and children John (Laura), Darren (Allyson), Sharlene (Dan). She received and gave great joy to her grandchildren, Andrea, Tia, Stephanie, Jenn, Ben, Chase and Andrew. She is also survived by her brother Vic (Marg). Erlene was raised in Transcona and met her life's love while attending grade school. She and John enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Erlene was devoted to family and friends and embraced the role of homemaker . She made a home with her husband and family through her constant love, gentle ways and her passion for cooking. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care provided at Kin Place and to the friends who visited during Erlene's illness. A celebration of Erlene's life will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West. Flowers are gratefully declined and if friends desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
