GEORGE WILLIAM KIPLING October 14, 1913 - May 28, 2011 As we released George into our Lord's hands we said our good-byes to our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In George's 97 years a great many people he knew and loved have predeceased him. Among the many were his brother Earl (Verna) Kipling, 1982; daughter-in-law Judy (Murray) Kipling, 1983; brother-in-law Tony (Mary) Nadrozny, 1983; his first born son Robert Kipling, 2002; his beloved wife of 57 years, Florence Alice (nee Karnes) in 1995, and son-in-law Bill (Joyce) Simmons, 2009. Many will mourn his quiet strength, his smile and the twinkle in his eye. Among them are his son Murray (Brunetta) Kipling of Winnipeg, daughter Shirley (Gary) Gompf of Calgary, AB, daughter Joyce Simmons of Dallas, TX, son Kelly (Denise) Kipling of Fort Erie, ON; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his sister Mary (his best friend) Nadrozny of Vernon, BC and sister-in-law Verna Pottinger of Brandon, MB. George was the middle child born to George and Amy (nee Woods) Kipling of Sinclair, MB. He worked at a young age clearing bush to make roads in Riding Mountain National Park. He also worked for Hedges farm where he met and married his wife Florence. Together they tried their hand at farming in the area of Glencairn, MB. Because of weather the crop failed that year and they moved to Brandon, MB. He raised his five children selling vacuum cleaners door to door. George and Florence then moved to Winnipeg and became the caretakers of the then new No. l Evergreen Place. Years later, after they enjoyed living and meeting new friends in Calgary, AB and Surrey, BC in their retirement age, they moved back to Winnipeg to be close to family. Once again they felt at home at No. 1 Evergreen Place until the Lord called them home. We would like to thank his many friends at No. l Evergreen Place. A special thanks to Dr. Permack and his staff for the wonderful care he gave our father through the years. We are grateful to the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for the professional and compassionate care they provided over our father's last days At George's request, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully request donations to be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
