Date of Passing: Jun 01, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLARENCE GEORGE ANKROM Clarence passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the age of 81, peacefully in his sleep, in the comfort of his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Deloris; son Douglas and daughter-in-law Kathy; daughter Marlene and son-in-law David; five granddaughters, Amanda, Nikole, Hannah, Bailee and Madelyn; and brother Ed and family. Clarence, known to those who loved him as Babe , led a very active life. He was an avid curler and golfer, displaying his many trophies with pride and even achieving a hole-in-one later in life. He loved to walk and could be seen out in the neighbourhood in all seasons... recently accompanied by his new walking buddy, Hope, his beloved Border Collie. He treasured the time he spent at the cottage, both his own at Echo Bay, and as well the yearly family treks to his daughter's Quebec cottage. He was even diving off of the dock at the spry age of 80, and had been looking forward to their gathering this summer. Babe cared deeply about his family. As a husband, Deloris was the love of his life. As a father, there was nothing more important to him than his children, who in turn can only hope to provide similar love and support to their children. As a Grandpa and Papa , he was patient and gentle, spending hours playing and teaching his grandchildren card games, or making coins appear out of their ears. We are grateful that they will grow up remembering the fun they had with him, and his love for them. A celebration of Babe's life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with Reverend Karen Toole speaking at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 0R3.
