Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELL HICKS (nee WILLIAMS) March 31, 1913 - June 4, 2011 It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Nellie Hicks. She passed peacefully in the early morning of June 4, 2011 at Concordia Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba after a long and happy life. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband Bill, daughter Clarissa (Gary), grandchildren Erin (Peter), Joel (Tamara), Megan, and great-grandchildren Luca and Chloe. Nell is predeceased by her parents Lewis and Nell Williams, brothers Lou and Les, her sister Clarice, her niece Leslie, her in-laws Thomas and Maud Hicks, her brother-in-law Roy, her sisters-in-law Bea, Verla, and Lois, and her cousin Ken and wife Kitty. Nell also leaves behind the many friends and family members who will mourn the loss of such an amazing person. Special thoughts go out to her Vancouver relatives: Janice (Grant) and family, John (Libby) and family as well as her niece Val (Brent) and their family, and her Portland Street family' the Hendersons. Nellie Hicks led a long and wonderful life. She always spoke fondly of her time spent working at the Assiniboine Park Pavilion and at the Downtown Eaton's. Her trailer at West Hawk Lake was a second home for Nellie. Many summer days were spent with family and friends at West Hawk sitting at the beach, around the fire, or playing Winnipeg Rummy on rainy nights. Her presence will always be felt there. Nellie was a woman of faith attending Saint Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in St. Vital. We rejoice that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and that she can now be with her family that has passed before her. The family would like to thank the staff of Concordia Place for the compassionate care that they have given Nell over the past year. A celebration of her life will take place at Saint Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, 3 St. Vital Rd. on Thursday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. with a private family interment to follow at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Humane Society. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 BROADWAY, WINNIPEG, MB R3C OX4 783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com

Hello. I know it has been a few years now since Mrs. Hicks death but I thought I would share a memory that I have of her. For those who are wondering who I am, I used to work at Sterling House where the Hicks were one of my favourite couples when they lived there. I remember one time I was serving her table and it was time for dessert so I asked her if she would like some to which she replied..." Dear, if I were to eat anymore it would be an over indulgence on my already exasperated appetite." Most of the time after that I knew she didn't want dessert but I liked asking her anyway just so that I could hear her say this. She was definitely a sweet lady and I loved getting to know her and Mr. Hicks who was just as loveable. - Posted by: Cara M. () on: Nov 05, 2013
