IRENE (RENE) LEAH (nee WORTHINGTON) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Irene on June 3, 2011 after a severe stroke, and a brief stay in Grace Hospital at age 87. Rene is lovingly remembered by the loves of her life, son John (Skip) and wife Gail. She is survived by her brother Alan and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and England. She was predeceased by her loving husband Johnny; and sisters, Joan and Muriel. Mom was one of Manitoba's last war brides and enjoyed their reunions. After retiring from the Federal Taxation Data Centre, she became very involved with St. James Rebekah #47, Golden Links Auxiliary and LAPM Fort Garry #1 and relished all her friends and acquaintances. She was also a member of the Air Canada Pionairs. We will never forget how she referred to us a love or sweetie . It was not just her way of speaking. We would see it in her smile and hear it in her laugh. Mom will be remembered by a whole host of family and friends who knew her as a special lady . She enjoyed reading mystery novels, travelling to England, crossword puzzles and bowling. As she aged, her interest in life never ended. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be presided by Rev. Karen Toole at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Thursday, June 9 at 10:00 a.m, followed by interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oddfellow Rebekah Memorial Eye Foundation, 4025 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3R 3V5 or a charity of one's choice.
