ERWIN EDGAR THIESSEN 1930 - 2011 After a lengthy illness Edgar Thiessen, age 81, passed peacefully on June 6, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Edgar is survived by his devoted wife Lea, of 56 years. A loving caring father to Laura and Don Gray (Vancouver), Brad and Tracey Thiessen (Toronto), Monica and Jason Soprovich (Vancouver). He was a wonderful, and fun-loving grandfather to Brian, Michael, Trevor, Jeff, Charles, Brooke, Cole, and Chase. Edgar was born in Winnipeg, March 18, 1930. Predeceased by his loving parents, Jacob and Agnes Thiessen, his older brother Victor. He leaves his younger brother Bill (Ursula) Thiessen (Kelowna, BC) and sister-in-law Marge Thiessen (Lindsay, ON). Edgar was a family man first, and a loyal friend. His passions were enjoying a game of golf at St. Charles Golf and Country Club with his many friends, and sharing weekly lunches with his Shrine brothers of the Khartum Temple. He enjoyed traveling extensively with Lea and his children, seeing many parts of the world. Edgar was very generous of supporting many ventures of those in need. He was an exuberant businessman and he wished to thank his loyal and dedicated staff, who exemplify support and commitment. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses in the ICU, for their dedication and compassion. A celebration of Edgar's life will take place from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6 in his memory.
