Born: Feb 15, 1938
Date of Passing: Jun 07, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY BERNARD ROBINSON After a courageous and lengthy battle with complications from diabetes, with his wife by his side, Roy peacefully passed away on June 7, 2011. He will always be remembered by his loving wife. He was predeceased by his mother Margaret Blank, his grandmother and grandfather Catherine Mary and Roland Lyon, his mother and father-in-law Mary and Alex Budnik (like parents to him), his sister-in-law Anne Hart and brother-in-law Andy Didenko. He is survived by his wife Irene; his aunt Doris Lyon and aunt Kathy Henders; his sisters Shirley (Murray) Snyder, Birdie Kozyra and Louise Blank; brothers-in-law Al Budnik, George (Thelma) Budnik and Lawrence Hart; sister-in-law Marge Didenko; many cousins, nieces and nephews, too numerous to list. Roy was born February 15, 1938 in St. Boniface Hospital. He attended Earl Grey, Glenwood, Glenlawn and Tec Voc. Roy loved hockey, football and all sports. He played Junior for the Monarchs as well as Senior Hockey with his buddies. He was a constable for 11 years for the City of Winnipeg and worked for MPIC in the S.I.U. Department as a special investigator until he retired in 1997. When he left the force, he took up farming in 1971 and remained there until his demise. Roy loved the farm life and even had names for most of his cattle. His dog Tippy was special to him and he tolerated my cats. Roy met his future wife on October 14, 1956 at a dance at the Prosvita Hall and when the dance crowd parted, he told his buddy Don that's the girl I'm going to marry and he did five years to the day on October 15, 1961, a total of 55 years together. The term gentleman was made for someone like Roy as he was always polite and courteous. He was a fighter from the word go. He went from Hemo Dialysis, double heart bypass, failing eyesight, leg amputation and many complications associated with diabetes until his body said enough is enough and God took him to his eternal home where he will be with all those he loved. I would like to thank Dr. Armstrong and all the nurses that looked after Roy in the Dialysis Unit as well as the Seven Oaks Hospital staff. A memorial service will be held for Roy on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roy's memory to the Diabetes Association, Hemo Dialysis or a charity of your choice. Interment will take place at a later date. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
