SALLY SADAKO LAMBERT (nee EYEMOTO) 1923 - 2011 Sally Lambert died peacefully at West Park Manor on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, where she had lived since suffering a stroke several years ago. Sally leaves to cherish her memory her sisters Pat Ariza, Sue Teramura and Grace Granger; nieces Candy Nagamori and Cindy Jonasson, along with their daughters Leah, Brandis and Heather; and numerous other nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents, Mankichi Eyemoto and Haruyo Muramoto; her husband, Adam Lambert; her son, Steven Eyemoto; sisters Fumiye, Haruko Ooto, Jackie Keates, Hanaye (Bunny) Nagamori, and brothers Shinichi, Shigeru and Harry. She was also predeceased by a sister Sayono and an unnamed brother, both of whom died in infancy. Sally was born on May 18, 1923 at Pitt Meadows, BC, the daughter of pioneer fruit growers in the Fraser Valley. In 1942, they were displaced from their family home and relocated to Manitoba, where the family worked as farm labourers south of Winnipeg. When her parents were returned to Iwakuni, Japan in 1946, Sally and several of her siblings joined them. Sally returned to Manitoba in 1949, accompanied by two of her siblings and her infant son, her other siblings having returned a year earlier. Sally married Adam Lambert on September 21, 1963, and they enjoyed nine happy years together before Adam's death in 1972. Sally developed a special bond with her twin nieces, Candy and Cindy, with whom weekly visits were a part of her routine until her health declined. Their daughters were like grandchildren to Sally, who showered them with affection and gifts. Sally's dog Pinky was her constant companion for many years. Sally was a hairdresser and she worked at Hollywood Beauty Stylists, later known as Beauty Makers, on Colony Street. Sally was plainspoken, forthright and opinionated, yet she was also enormously understanding of those who differed from the crowd. She had a rich if sometimes wry sense of humour and a laugh that was distinctly her own. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m., at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery), with Rev. Stefan Jonasson officiating. Her ashes will be placed alongside her late husband Adam at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 9Z9 if family and friends so desire.
