Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryG. WILFRED ALEXANDER 1923 2011 Wilf passed away on June 8, 2011 at the age of 88 at the Poseidon Care Centre in Winnipeg. He is survived by his sisters Valerie Spillett of Thunder Bay, ON, Trudy Weir of Brockville, ON, and twin sister Marion (Larry) Osborne of Kelowna, BC; sister-in-law Rose Alexander of Eatonia, SK and many nieces and nephews Jeanette Duncan and Carol Delmage of Barrie, ON, Howard (Linda) Wiebe of Kelowna, BC, Judy Spillett, Karen (Don) Chesterman, and Marlene (Al) Bosma of Thunder Bay, ON, Bob Weir of Victoria, BC, Connie Alexander of Leduc, AB, Allan Alexander of Saskatoon, SK, Corinne (Ritch) Nunweiler of Turtleford, SK, Danny (Barb) Alexander of Eatonia, SK, Kathy Alexander of Saskatoon, SK, Barb Osborne of Kelowna, BC; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Wilf was predeceased by his parents Howard and Ferne; sister and brother-in-law Audrey and Sam Goodman; brother Randall Alexander; brothers-in-law Jack Spillett and Don Weir; and niece Lois Edmunds. Wilf was born on March 4, 1923 in Eatonia, SK. He attended Prince Edward School. He farmed north of Eatonia, SK with his brother Randall all of his life. He spent the winter months with his sister Audrey in Winnipeg, where he worked at various jobs and attended electrical classes and others. He was skilled at welding and other trades and had a passion for carpentry and woodworking, and was involved with many renovation projects for family and friends. His cottage was his home and he spent many relaxing hours gardening and constantly keeping busy with projects. He enjoyed entertaining company with his barbeques and home made wine. Wilf liked fishing and was an avid curler, winning many bonspiels and league championships. He also learned and enjoyed golfing in his retirement. Wilf loved to find a bargain and socialize at the many auction sales he attended. Wilf volunteered his time filling food hampers at the food bank. The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Poseidon Care Centre for the loving care during his time of residence. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Reception to follow.
