HOITE WESTRA 1913 - 2011 It is with great sadness the family of Hoite Westra announces his passing on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Tuxedo Villa at the age of 98 years. Hoite's beloved wife Ida, predeceased him in 2009, after 76 years of marriage. Hoite is survived by sons, Harmen (Anne) Westra, Wieger (Gwen) Westra, Anno Westra, daughters, Sieboutje Kay Jonkman, Antje (Peter) Ryzebol, Alida (John) Stolpman, 22 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren. Born in Langweer, Friesland, The Netherlands in 1913. He immigrated with his wife Ida and their six children to Canada in 1955. A baker by trade, Hoite worked at the Snowflake Bakery and Tasty Bread in Winnipeg, retiring in 1978. Hoite and Ida were most proud of their children, and three generations of grandchildren, many of whom helped them celebrate their 76th wedding anniversary. The family would like to thank all the staff at Tuxedo Villa, Ward 3, for the care and comfort they have provided. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Salvation Army Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1932 Winnipeg MB, R3C 3R2 or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with a reception to follow. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
