JOYCE ISABEL WALMSLEY (STEPHENSON) (1929 - 2011)
Date of Passing: May 15, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE ISABEL WALMSLEY (STEPHENSON) (1929 - 2011) It is with profound sadness and heartache that we announce the sudden, but peaceful, passing of Joyce Walmsley on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Regina General Hospital, with her daughters by her side. Joyce is survived by her daughters: Donna (Bruce) Grant of Calgary, AB, Fran (Bernard) Kambeitz of Weyburn, SK, Debbie (Rob) Mackinnon of La Salle, MB and Diane (Dale Acorn) Walmsley of Stratford, PE. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chris, Catherine (Thad Pulfer), Mark and Kevin; brother Cecil (Egwen) Stephenson, sisters-in-law Evelyn, Ruth and Mary Stephenson and by her brother-in-law Melbourne Walmsley, as well many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph (Russell) and Catherine Isabel (Belle) Stephenson, her brothers Morley (Helen), Grant, Glen, Leo (Margaret) and Les Stephenson, and by the girls' father, Charles (Chuck) Walmsley. Mom was born in Glenboro, MB on November 9, 1929 to Russell and Belle Stephenson, the youngest and only girl among six brothers. She attended Alma school and grew up around Belmont, MB. In her early years, she worked for the Bank of Montreal in Belmont and Winnipeg. Later on she moved to numerous locations in MB, N. Ont. and SK where she raised her family. Mom was a terrific cook, enjoyed playing and watching curling, liked a good joke and loved to play cribbage. She was a soft-spoken, gentle person who always looked for the best in people. She enjoyed family gatherings and watching for and listening to the loons at the cottage on Lake Manitoba. Mom spent a lot of time with her grand-children. Family was everything to Mom and we were all very close to her. She is loved and will be dearly missed each and every day. The moment that you died, Our hearts split in two, The one side filled with memories, The other died with you. We often lay awake at night, When the world is fast asleep, And walk down memory lane, With tears upon our cheeks. Remembering you is easy, We do it every day, But missing you is a heartache That never goes away. We hold you tightly within our hearts, And there you will remain, Life has gone on without you, But it will never be the same. For those who still have their moms, Treat her with tender care, You will never know the emptiness, As you turn and she is not there. Our family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. P. Bierman and to the attentive and empathetic care Mom received at Eden Homes and Regina General Hospital. Donations can be made to Eden Homes, Weyburn, SK (560 5th Ave NE S4H 2W1) or CancerCare Manitoba - St. Boniface Unit (409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6). An inurnment of Mum's ashes will take place at a later date in Belmont, MB.
