JOSEPH LEON DE VOS June 13, 1921 - January 22, 2011 Uncle Joe passed away on January 22, 2011 at the St. Adolphe Personal Care Home, with his nephew Dave at his side. Uncle Joe was born June 13, 1921 in La Salle, MB to Victor and Irma De Vos. The family moved to Fort Whyte and then to a grain and dairy farm on Waverley Street in St. Norbert. In the 1950s Joe and his brother George bought the farm and continued farming until 1976. Uncle Joe was a quiet man. He enjoyed playing cards and going for drives in the country. Uncle Joe lived in the St. Norbert area until February 2005 then went to live at the St. Adolphe Personal Care Home due to Alzheimer's. While in the Personal Care Home he was known to the staff as Uncle Joe . He is survived by his sister Irene Sternastek; sister-in-law Madeline De Vos; aunt Madeline Dusessoy, along with several nieces and nephews. Since Joseph's passing, his brother George passed away on April 4, 2011. Uncle Joe was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Mary and Robert; sister-in-law Agnes De Vos; brother-in-law Joe Sternastek and nephew Randall De Vos. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on June 18, 2011 in the St. Norbert Catholic Cemetery, Rue St. Therese, St. Norbert, MB with Father Michel Nault officiating. Lunch will follow at the FOE3870 Eagles Club, 3459 Pembina Hwy. in St. Norbert. A special thanks to Alice De Vos and great-niece Karen Baldwin for all the extra TLC' given to Uncle Joe at his home and the Personal Care Home.
