Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLARENCE ROGER KIESMAN July 18, 1936 - June 7, 2011 Peacefully at his home, Clarence Roger Kiesman, entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Saviour. He lost the struggle with multiple myeloma (cancer) after three years of treatment. Clarence was born in the Bayton area west of Moosehorn, the second son of the late Art and Emma Kiesman. In 1939, his grandfather died and his grandmother asked Art and Emma to move onto the family farm in the Kissman School District. This is where he grew up, attending Kissman School up to Grade 8, and from there he attended Moosehorn School to finish his Grade XI. During this time he had to help with the farm work and also participated in various sports - baseball, hockey. After finishing school, he went to summer school at the University of Manitoba to prepare for a year of teaching on permit. He qualified and was given the right to teach one year at New Scotland School. The next year there was a teacher shortage so he was asked to teach one year on permit at Pioneer School, southwest of Ashern. After that year he went to Red Lake, ON, and worked in the gold mines for a while. He decided working underground was not for him so he got a job with Gerrard Co. maintaining wire strapping machines. In 1963 he started working at the John Deere Co. head office in Winnipeg. He worked in the office for a while and then decided he would rather work in the shipping department and was transferred there. In 1962 he met Nettie Thiessen and they were married on October 12, 1963. A few years later he bought his parents' farm. During that time our daughter Cathy was born, and in 1967 we moved to the farm in Moosehorn. He was still running the farm in 2010 and did what work he could. All through the years spent on the farm, he made improvements where he could, and he planned and planned. We raised cattle throughout the years. In March 2008 he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (bone marrow cancer), and he struggled for the next three years to keep the cancer under control but in the end he lost the fight. He told us that Jesus was calling and he knew that he could not get better this time. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Nettie, daughter Cathy, her husband Glenn, grandchildren Emily and Christopher, his brother Dorrie (Elsie), nephews Wilson (Ginny), David, Richard, Kevin (Robin), Rodney (Andrea), Kirk (Jackie), Ryan (fiancé Samantha), Gary, and niece Lenore, also 10 great-nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law Harry (Doreen), John (Martha), sisters-in-law Sandy, Eve, Barbara (Alex). He was predeceased by his parents Art and Emma, brothers Norman (Irene), Bill (Irene), parents-in-law Frank and Tina Thiessen, brother-in-law Pete and sister-in-law Beatrice. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Moosehorn Community Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the hall. Interment to follow at the RM of Grahamdale Cemetery, Moosehorn, MB. Lunch to follow at the hall. Everyone welcome! Pallbearers will be his five nephews and one niece: Kirk, Ryan, Gary, Lenore, Rodney and Richard Kiesman.
