NATALIE IRENE BERGAL (nee GABBER) 1932 - 2011 On Thursday, June 16, 2011, with her family by her side, Tillie passed away after a short battle with cancer. Tillie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jeff, Gary (Trish); grandchildren, James and Samantha; sister Jeanne Fraser of Penticton, BC, as well as her niece and nephews and extended family. Tillie was predeceased by her beloved husband Harley, mother Jean Keweriga, father Martin Gabber and brother John Gabber of Beaumont, AB. Tillie was born and raised in Winnipeg, and was a proud Winnipegger, Manitoban and Canadian. Tillie and Harley enjoyed their frequent trips to Las Vegas, which began in 1957. After retirement, they also enjoyed many journeys to international destinations. Tillie worked for many years at University College on the University of Manitoba campus. For the last 13 years, she spent countless hours working as a volunteer at the Victoria General Hospital. Tillie was a devoted grandmother, in regular attendance at James and Samantha's activities. She was a modern lady and was adamant on keeping up with the times. Tillie was an avid computer user, and was always dressed in the latest fashions. Tillie's poised and dignified demeanor was admired by many. Tillie's family wishes to extend many thanks to Dr. Sharkey, Dr. Maxwell, the staff of the Oncology Clinic at Victoria General Hospital, the Radiation Oncology Department at Cancer Care Manitoba and the staff of the WRHA Palliative Care Program and the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion. At Tillie's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of Tillie's fourth battle with cancer, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or other charity of choice. Mother, your gifts of knowledge, sharing, integrity, righteousness and devotion to family will never be forgotten. Love always, rest peacefully.
