BEATRICE E. L. LOWEN Bea died peacefully on June 15, 2011 in her 93rd year. She is survived by her sister Patricia and her children, Dorothy (Jim), David (Sarah), and Brian (Ruth); grandchildren, Eric, Jody, Brianna, Travis and Spencer; great-grand-children, Sam, Anna and Nicholas. Predeceased by her husband Ben; sisters, Meta, Flo, Shyrle, Dimple; and brother Cam. Bea was born in Watrous, SK, to Thomas and Lillie Munro and was raised in Plumas, SK by her loving aunt Ida Ross. After graduating from Watrous High School, she attended nursing college, graduating from St. Boniface Hospital in 1940. Bea married Ben Lowen in 1941, just prior to his overseas deployment with the RAF. Dorothy was born while Ben was overseas in 1942, followed by David in 1948 and Brian in 1956. Bea was head nurse at Manitoba Rehab in the late 1960s where many of her patients became friends. Her most enjoyable times were spent at the family cottage at Falcon Lake where many friends and family gathered. Bea loved a good party and with Ben, hosted many Grey Cup and Christmas events. She and Ben (until 2006) spent the past 20 years at Fred Douglas Place where they established many new and lasting friendships. She was a ferocious diarist and enjoyed reciting poetry, baking and making preserves. Her hands were always busy knitting, which accompanied every activity that did not require their use. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of one's choice. Neil Bardal Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
