ELIZABETH MILLS (nee HOWELL) Born October 8, 1922, Betty passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Mum was born and raised in the South of Ireland where she met and married the love of her life, Dr. T. Jim Mills in 1945. Immigrating to Canada in l959, she and Jim settled in Charleswood and raised their family. In the last decade of her life, Betty faced the challenge of living with Parkinson's disease. Despite this, her wry sense of humour and sharp wit shone through. Predeceased by her beloved husband James in 1983 and her brother Tony (Ireland) in 2010, Betty will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her sister June in Ireland; her sister-in-law Anne (Bert) in N. Ireland; and her four children: Peter (Margaret), Elizabeth, Jocelyn, and Claire (Cliff); her son-in-law Dugal; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her longtime friend, Josephine. Many thanks to all of the Home Care girls who over the years brought a little bit o'sunshine into Betty's life and thank you to the staff at Golden West for your care and kindness to Mum in her last few years. If friends so desire, a donation in Betty's memory may be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba.
