Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCULLY MILES WILSON On Monday, June 13, 2011, Cully Miles Wilson passed away at the age of 87 in Edmonton, Alberta. Cully is survived by his sister Helen Taplin of Ontario; son Brent (Shelley); daughters, Janet Bakus (Randy), Patricia Frank and Kathryn Beauchamp; and grandchildren, Jennifer Beauchamp, Lucas and Nicole Wilson. He is predeceased by his wife Elaine (1994) and sisters, Norma Dent and Marion. Cully grew up in the Sherbrook area of Winnipeg, known as Little Iceland. As a student at Daniel McIntyre School, he excelled both academically and in track and field. Immediately after school, Cully began a proud 43 year career with Imperial Oil. In 1951 Cully, Elaine and Brent moved to the frontier of Winnipeg, 15 Lodge Avenue, Silver Heights, where Janet, Pat and Kay were born. Cully was an avid gardener whose passion was growing excellent tomatoes and enjoying the fruits of his labour. Cully and Elaine were very active members of Silver Heights United Church where he served as an Elder. While in Winnipeg, Cully was an active member of the Capitol Masonic Lodge and retained his membership until his death. In 1968 Cully accepted a promotional transfer with Imperial Oil to Edmonton and set up home for the family on the then frontier of 117 Street and 37 Avenue. He continued his love of gardening and took up a new love, curling. Cully's world dramatically changed when he became the dedicated caregiver for many years to his wife Elaine after she was stricken with Alzheimer's disease. Cully served as a Board member in the early years of the Alzheimer Society of Edmonton and was instrumental in developing it into a structured organization. After Elaine's death, Cully enjoyed the company of the Southgate Mall Walking Group. The family wants to thank Dr. Anthony Salopek, Cully's longtime GP, for his ongoing care and compassion. A special thank you is also due to Dr. Flook and the Family Medicine team at the University of Alberta Hospital for their care and kindness to both Cully and his family in Cully's final days and hours. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Salvation Army or the charity of one's choice. No service will be held as per Cully's request.
