ELIZABETH G. MALCOLM Peacefully, on February 23, 2011, Elizabeth G. Malcolm (Betty) passed away at Tuxedo Villa. Elizabeth was predeceased by husband, William A. Malcolm, her parents Frank and Annie Lane, and her three siblings. She is survived by her son Bill (Ruth), daughter Barbara (Bill Riske) and her grandchildren Nicola Riske and Billy Riske, Will Malcolm (Keri), Lisa Malcolm (Dave Gwiazda), and their mother, April Malcolm. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Peyton and Paxton Malcolm and Sam Gwiazda. Mother was born September 13, 1920 in Edmonton, Alberta. In 1942, she met and married Pilot Officer William A. Malcolm, who left shortly after for service overseas. After the war, Dad went into the family business as a manufacturers' agent and Mother remained at home to raise the family. During those years, she was very active in the St. Aidans Church guild; later, she joined Dad in the business. Mother and Dad had a large circle of friends and a very active social life, which included the Winnipeg Kiwanis Club. They enjoyed their yearly travels which included England, Spain and Portugal. After Dad's passing in 1986, Mother remained very active playing bridge, gardening and volunteer work at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Whale Sale at The Parish Church of St. Luke. In 2000, she took up residence at Tuxedo Villa, where she lived until her death. Mother was a vibrant, compassionate woman with a great sense of charm and dignity. Her family meant everything to her. She was truly the matriarch and loved hosting our family on Friday evenings. We were fortunate to have been able to celebrate her 90th birthday with her in September, 2010. Although her health deteriorated, her sense of humour and wit remained intact. She was an amazing Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, who is dearly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa for the care of Mother these past 11 years. A private family service was held on June 14, 2011 at The Parish Church of St. Luke, followed by interment of her ashes in the family plot in St. James Anglican Cemetery.
