WILLIAM THOMAS BOWEN Peacefully, on June 13, 2011 Bill passed away at the Deer Lodge Center at the age of 95. He was predeceased by his parents George and Jean Bowen; brothers and sisters Fred and Earl Bowen; Jean Jahanke and Helen Smith; his first wife Eileen and son John (Jake); second wife Audrey who passed away in 2007 after 44 years of marriage. He is survived by his son Kenneth Bowen of Winnipeg as well as extended family and friends. Dad went to Normal School and became a teacher for a short time before heading off to serve in the Second World War from 1941 to 1945 as a pilot. Upon his return he was stationed in Dauphin, MB. Bill and Audrey (nee Couling) were married in Lauder, MB August 28, 1963. They lived in Dauphin until they moved to Winnipeg in 1972. After the war he was employed by the Government of MB from 1945 to 1980 at EMO and the Land Titles Div. receiving his Meritorious Service Award for 35 years of service in 1980 upon his retirement. Bill enjoyed sports especially baseball, he was a Bomber season ticket holder which he enjoyed attending games with Audrey and Ken. He enjoyed gardening, camping, playing bridge with friends, he was a past member of the Masons, Rotary Club and Sturgeon Creek United Church. After his retirement he enjoyed a trip to England and France with his wife Audrey. Private Graveside service will be held and Interment will take place in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. The family wishes to thank those that took the time to visit Dad while he was in hospital, the Staff at Kiwanis Courts, Grace Hospital 4 South and Tower 4, 4th Floor at the Deer Lodge Center for their care and compassion shown to my Dad. Dad's last request was for the staff at the Kiwanis Courts to Look after his Willow Tree . If friends so desire donations may be made in Bill's memory to CancerCare MB or a charity of your choice.
