JOSEPH SAYIES July 17, 1937 June 13, 2011 After a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Joe passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 73 years. He is survived by his loving sister Anna (Erickson), eight children, Joanne (Allan), Ron (Cecilia), Randy (Patti), Darren (Darlene), Dean, Brad (Patty), Jeanette (Mike) and Steven (Chantel) as well as 30 grandchildren. Joe was born in The Pas, Manitoba. He later settled with his wife Evelyn in Lynn Lake where they raised their family. He enjoyed a 45 year mining career which began at Sherit Gordon mine. He retired from the Ruttan mine in Leaf Rapids. He left mining briefly to earn his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba. Joe enjoyed travelling and visiting his children. His sense of humour was enduring, even during his most unwell days. He will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at the Snow Lake Hospital and the GH5 ward at the H.S.C. for their wonderful care. They would also like to thank all Joe's friends for their cards, gifts, prayers and well wishes. Services will be held in Snow Lake, MB, dates to follow.
