WILLIAM (BILL) G. MCCRIE The family announces the passing on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Victoria General Hospital. He was born in Sarnia, Ontario in 1921 and raised and schooled in Bothwell, Ontario. In 1942 he joined the Canadian Army and later served with the 22nd Battery, 13th Canadian Field Regiment as a command post artillery signaler from prior to D-Day until after the Second World War's end. In 1942 he married Kathleen George in Sarnia. A marriage which lasted happily for over 68 years, and which produced two wonderful children, son, William of Winnipeg and daughter, Linda of Kelowna, BC. Bill served 15 years with Zellers Ltd. Later he joined The Hudson's Bay Company with whom he served for 31 years in the Northern Stores retiring in 1985. Bill was a member of Elmhurst Golf and Country Club for over 40 years, during which time he served for eight years on the Board of Governors. He was a member of Harrow United Church and was a born again Christian. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen, son Bill (Iris), and daughter Linda Jenkins (Don) plus grandchildren Don McCrie, Donald Jenkins, Kyle Jenkins and Carol Jenkins. As he tried to live his life by the Golden Rule, he loved all who touched his life and they all returned that love. Mizpah - May the Lord watch between thee and me, while we are absent one from another. May the Lord bless and keep thee until we meet again. The family wishes to give thanks to Dr. Vekatesan, the staff of 4 South and his Home Care staff for their help. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Bill's wishes there will be no service. Those who so wish may make a donation in his memory to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 9Z9.
