He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941 and enlisted in the R.C.M.P. in 1946 after demobilization. While stationed in Flin Flon, MB he met the woman who would be his love for almost 60 years, marrying Nell on July 16, 1951. Bill proudly served in the R.C.M.P. and his career took the family to Sydney, NS; Halifax, NS and then to Winnipeg, MB, where he retired in 1971. Now fully retired, Bill and Nell travelled widely throughout Europe and Israel, with the highlight of their excursions being a visit to Rome and to the Holy Land. They escaped Winnipeg's cold winter months with frequent trips to Hawaii. Summers were spent fishing, playing bridge and cribbage and relaxing in their trailer at Royal Lake. Bill retained his ties to the R.C.M.P., actively participating in the R.C.M.P. Veterans' Association, D Division. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus for over 60 years as part of his devotion to the Roman Catholic faith. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road with Rev. Fr. Gerald Langevin presiding.
