GERALD TOWNS August 13, 1954 - June 14, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerald William Towns at the age of 56. He is survived by his pride and joy his two sons; Corey and Matthew; wife Karen, brother-in-law Dale (Karen). He will also be lovingly remembered by his Auntie Grace; cousins Penny (the late Wayne McLeod), Wendy (Mike), Ryan and Amanda and family; David (Amy), Lori (Rod), Jarett, Chad, his in-law cousins, aunts and uncles, Phil and Janis, King Ralph (Delores) and family, Derek (Lynda) and family, his bowling buddies from Dakota Lanes, friends and long time colleagues at Winnipeg Transit, Ellen (Miss Elly), John (Anna) and many old school buddies and neighbours. Gerald worked at Norman's Meats for a few years before embarking on his Winnipeg Transit career which he started in January 1976. He worked for Winnipeg Transit for 35 years and was looking forward to retiring this year. Gerald enjoyed bowling, loved to golf with his sons and go on family trips. He had a great sense of humour and was always a joker. He found some good friends along this path of life but will now be travelling a new path finding family and friends that he hasn't seen for a while. He loved animals all his life and had many dogs Whitey, Scamp, Andy (his favourite), Peachey, Sandy and he will be seeing and walking them along his new path as well. A celebration of Gerald's life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow. Cremation has taken place and a family interment will take place at a later date at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerald's memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
