MICHAEL MLYNAROWICH Michael Mlynarowich, born on September 5, 1919 in Pine Ridge, MB, passed away on June 18, 2011. Peacefully, with his family at his side, at the Lodge at Broadmead, where he lived for the past one and one half years, in Victoria, BC, our dear husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great-uncle entered eternal rest. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Veronica, daughter Monica (Andy) Reekie, and sons Ralph Thomas (Collette) Mlynarowich, and David (Barbara) Mlynarowich, grandchildren William and Annie, nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Maria and Thomas; brothers Frank and Thomas; sisters, Ann (Cashmer) Stupak, Marie (Stanley) Tomicki; infant sisters, Mary and Katherine and nephew Ronald Jaworski. Michael was born and raised in the Pine Ridge area. He joined the Army in 1939, and discharged in 1942, after contracting Tuberculosis, having a lung removed, and spending two years in a sanatorium. Michael then spent most of his working career with Nelson River Construction company until his retirement, and then moved to Victoria, BC. He married Veronica in 1958 and within a year had started a family. Michael loved dogs, (there was almost always a dog in the family) and golf, a pastime which started early in his life and continued until only one year ago. He also had a lifelong passion for gardening, and was especially proud of his tomatoes and fruit trees. While living at Broadmead, Michael renewed an interest in music, singing and art, producing a number of beautiful artworks and crafts. The family wishes to thank all of the staff and volunteers, the pets visitors at the Lodge at Broadmead and Dr. Ted Rosenberg for the love and compassion shown to Michael and his family, not only in times of sorrow, but always. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services Chapel, 4725 Falaise Dr. with Fr. Manuel Cardoso officiating. Interment will follow in the Hatley Memorial Gardens, followed by a reception in the Maple Room at the Lodge at Broadmead. Staff is welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, the family would greatly appreciate donations be made to the Broadmead Care Foundation, 4579 Chatterton Way, Victoria, BC V8X 4Y7. Rest in peace Michael, we love you.
