KATHLEEN (KAY) SIMPSON (nee SIATECKI) Kathleen Simpson passed away on June 19, 2011 at Grace Hospital from complications of a life with Diabetes. Kay is survived by her husband of 45 years Murray, sister Rose Deibert, and various in-laws and nephews. She will be missed by her special friend Maria. Kay was predeceased by her parents Paul and Mary, brother Norman, brother-in-law Richard. Kay was born April 29, 1946 in Manitou, MB. She was raised in Snowflake and Winnipeg. She met Murray at Crabby Steve's barn dance in 1963 and married in 1967. Kay was employed in the 60s with United Grain Grower's and then pursued a Commercial Baking certificate. She also achieved a Provincial Hunter's Safety Instructors Certificate and taught the course for over 20 years. Other passions throughout her life were her cats and spending time at the cabin, where she was the happiest. She also enjoyed garage sales almost as much as telling details of all the good deals she found. Special thanks to Dr's. Lee and Brashier and care givers Stacy and Sabrina at Grace Hospital where she received compassionate care during her short stay. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held on Friday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes or Winnipeg Humane Society.
