MARIJA (KOLAR) GACNIK January 25, 1940 - June 22, 2011 On Wednesday, June 22, 2011 peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, Marija passed away at the age of 71 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish the memory of Marija are daughters Breda Kolar, Rose Dyck (David), Branka Kolar (Doug Plaisier) and son Henrik Gacnik (Kathy Blair). Marija also leaves behind five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Marija was born on January 25, 1940 in Celje, Slovenia, she immigrated to Canada in 1970 with her family for a better life. Marija took pride in her work at Modern Headwear and at home. She especially enjoyed her family, friends and co-workers. She loved to play cards, dance and be involved with her children. Marija was predeceased by her brother, Stan Kolar (Elizabeth), sister Anna Skorianz (Roman) and mother-in-law Marija Skobe. A special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. St. Goddard and nurse Richard who provided special care to her and our family. Respecting Marija's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., at the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Ave. West.
