JOHN BAPTISTE MARTIN 1922 - 2011 Peacefully on Friday evening June 17, 2011, John went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. He was predeceased by his parents who came to Canada from France, Germain and France Martin (Gauthier) of Hodgson, MB, his brothers Peter and Simon of Winnipeg, sister Jacqueline and husband Leonard Hartog of Hodgson MB, two infant sisters and niece, Darlene Hartog, of Hodgson, MB. He is survived by his sisters Germaine, Louise (John) Braun, Suzanne of Winnipeg, Marie (Willie) Braun of Carman, MB, Denise (Bill) Rosche, sister-in-law Katie and Vi, all of Winnipeg, numerous nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews. Family was a very important part of his life, being the eldest of a family of 10. He was born in Fisher Branch and grew up on a farm east of Hodgson in the Lee Lake District. He came to Winnipeg in the early 70s, working at various jobs, including purchasing and repairing homes to sell, working at machining and painting at Flyer Industries, all of which he found very enjoyable. For many years he used his skills at Calvary Temple Camp. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital for their loving care and attention during recent admissions to the fifth floor cardiac unit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Temple Camp, 400 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 3P8. Donations will be used to sponsor children for a week of Camp. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 25 at Calvary Temple at 11:30 a.m. in the Buntain Chapel. Viewing one half hour prior to the service. Pastor Bruce Martin officiating.
