GIUSEPPE COLATRUGLIO (November 13, 1932 - June 22, 2011) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe Colatruglio on June 22, 2011. Giuseppe was predeceased by father Angelo, mother Immacolata, and brother Donato. Giuseppe was born November 13, 1932 in the town of San Bartolomeo in Galdo P. Benevento, Italy. He married the love of his life Maria on November 7, 1955. Giuseppe and his wife and daughter Tina came to Canada in March 1957. He worked for various construction companies and worked for over 25 years with Con-Force, retiring in 1991. He was an honourary member of the Knights of Columbus with Holy Rosary Church. Dad had a creative ingenuity in crafting and tooling. Family and friends were often the recipients of his handy work. He always loved when his neighbours asked him for help and advice on how to build or fix something. His passions were his grandchildren which always made his eyes light up when in their company. He loved gardening, making wine, fishing and cooking. Dad took great pride in family gatherings and especially enjoyed the times spent with his brother Donato and his family. He often spoke of our famous Christmas gatherings which had lasting memories. Dad was happiest when he was visiting with family and friends to reminisce about the good old times. Kindness and hospitality were his hallmark. He also had a soft spot for all of God's creatures. Dad was well known for his sense of humour and always had a joke ready for any occasion. He was a great story teller and a master of the art of embellishment . Giuseppe is survived by his wife Maria, daughters Tina (John), Mickey (Joe), and son Angelo (Franca), grandchildren Dominic, Anthony, Jonathan, Sonia, and Giuseppe. He is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews in Canada and Italy. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Viewing will start at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow after mass in the church hall. Entombment will be at the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Giuseppe's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My deepest sympathies to all of his family. I have found memories of this great, loving father. I can remember going north of Winnipeg for fishing and of course homemade lasagna to spend wonderful days with this amazing family. He will be in my heart and soul for ever. He was a loving father that I admired and use his inspiration today with my daughter. I will never forget this great man ever. • Dad, we miss you very much. This will be our third Christmas without you, and the void in our lives is still very present. In your honour, we will do our best to celebrate the Christmas Season, as this was always one of your most cherished times of year. God Bless you Dad. - Posted by: Tina and John Gawron Dominic Anthony Johnny. (Children and Granchildren.) on: Dec 09, 2014
