Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON CLIFFORD STONE Clifford died peacefully surrounded by his family members on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Cliff was born November 22, 1920 in Winnipeg, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, Thor Stone and Margaret (Sigurdson), his sisters, Pearl and Ruby, and his brothers, Timothy and George. He leaves two sisters Dorothy (Ron) Pound and Peggy (Terry) Algeo, and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn his passing, especially his Three Musketeers , his great nephews, Patrick, Jesse and Teagan. Cliff was born in Winnipeg on November 22, 1920 where he attended school; he later joined the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and served overseas with the Ordinance Corps. Cliff worked at a variety of places before he settled in Churchill, MB., in 1958, where he was employed by the Public Works Department for over 17 years and developed many long term friendships and was known as Stony . He retired to Winnipeg in 1980. Cliff loved being an Uncle and Great Uncle to his many nephews and nieces, he was always very generous, ready to lend them a helping hand, or play a game of soccer, even in his 80's. Cliff was a lifetime member of the First Lutheran Church on Victor Street, in Winnipeg. He was a member for over 50 years of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 178 and a member of the Army Navy Club Sixty , where he again had many friends. Cliff spent his last years at Deer Lodge Centre, in Towers 6, where he established many relationships with the wonderful staff and was known for his gentle, appreciative ways. Clifford and his family would like to thank the staff from Tower 6 for their amazing care and support of Cliff, always ensuring he was comfortable, even in his last hours. Clifford developed a very special connection with his companion, Michael Johnson, and the family would like to thank Michael for his patience, commitment and caring for Cliff.
