After a lengthy illness, Linda Mae Kummen (nee Holtman), a daughter, a mother, a wife, a grandmother and a friend is reunited with her predeceased parents Irene Mae Holtman (nee Roberts) and John James Holtman Jim . Linda will be remembered and mourned by her brother and sister-in-law Greg Holtman and Bette Holtman (nee McEwen), her husband Jonathan Kummen Bruce , her daughter Julie Kummen (Andre Collette), her grandson Dusty Kummen and her daughter Karen Kummen-Diak (Jason Diak), along with her grandsons Ashton and Joshua Diak. Linda was born on February 28, 1953 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up in St. Vital and attended Glen Lawn Collegiate with her lifelong friends Roberta Dalman and Jo-Anne Baillie. It was in her high school years that she met her husband Bruce. Their love blossomed, and she soon married her soul mate . Her nurturing manner was easy to see as she took care of the family home, raised her children and became the care giver to many, many family pets. The family cottage at Grand Beach was a special place for Linda. It is where she spent many weekends and holidays with friends and family. She enjoyed walks along the beach and exploring the sand dunes. Her favourite times were celebrating special occasions with her family at the cottage. Linda also loved the annual family vacation and weekend get-a-ways (especially the annual ski trip) at Bud and Vange Kummen's cabin at West Hawk Lake. Linda took advantage of every opportunity to spend time outdoors. She could be found enjoying herself while cross country skiing, boating, camping, or backyard gardening. Linda's loving, kind and compassionate spirit attracted many wonderful people into her life. The entire family would like to express their appreciation to those for their support, their care, and their understanding. We'd also like to express our sincerest gratitude to the staff at Deer Lodge Center, Lodge 5 for their exceptional and considerate care during Linda's time with them. We invite family and friends to join us at a graveside memorial service at St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Rd. on Tuesday June 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon to to celebrate Linda's life will follow at Maxime's Restaurant located at 1131 St. Mary's Rd.
