UNNUR GOODMAN September 27, 1915 - May 30, 2011 Unnur Goodman was born in Iceland and came to Canada as an infant with her widowed mother, Elizabeth. She grew up in Manitoba and completed her training as a teacher, taught briefly and then moved to Vancouver where she joined the Bank of Montreal and worked there until her retirement. Although Unnur was the eldest of four children she outlived her youngest brother John Goodman (Peggy), her middle sister Christine St. Jean (Herve) and Thelma Sieffert (Ernie). She is survived by her sister-in-law Peggy Goodman, 11 nieces and nephews, 20 grandnieces and nephews, and eight great-grandnieces and nephews. Unnur lived independently for her entire 96 years and lived life her way. She was a much loved family member, and will always remain a larger than life favourite aunt in the memories of many. The last few years were full of family visits from her many nieces and nephews in British Columbia and the United States. She passed peacefully after a short hospital stay. Thank you to the many kind and gentle nurses and doctors in the Vancouver General Hospital and U.B.C. Hospital who helped make her last days comfortable. There will be a private gathering of close family members to celebrate her life.
