JIM SANDERS James Dixon (Jim) Sanders, aged 79, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Born July 14, 1931 in Emerson, Manitoba, Jim spent most of his working life with Canada Immigration. He spent most of his career in Winnipeg, and was at one time the head of Immigration at Winnipeg Airport, where he enjoyed meeting many world famous celebrities. He also spent some time in Thailand on behalf of the Government of Canada. Jim was a big sports fan, especially of the Baltimore Orioles, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Boston Bruins. He was pleased to see the Bruins finally win the Stanley Cup again, years after they last won with one of his heroes, Bobby Orr. Jim was very proud of his Scottish heritage, and enjoyed several trips to Scotland with his family. He was a longstanding member of the St. Andrew's Society of Winnipeg. Some of his ashes will be scattered on family gravesites in Boreland and Applegarth, Annandale, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, per his wishes. Jim is survived by his wife Joyce; son John; and daughter Kelly, all of Winnipeg. He is also survived by his younger siblings, Bill Sanders of Sarnia, Ontario and Betsy (Gary) Beckstead of Grand Forks, ND. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Elizabeth Sanders of Emerson. The family would like to thank our family physician, Dr. M. Shnider, the Dialysis Unit at Seven Oaks Hospital and the St. Boniface Hospital for all of their care. At Jim's request, no funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of one's choice.
