STELLA TEFS (SPELCHAK) January 15, 1920 - June 25, 2011 After many months of complex medical interventions, Stella retired from the stressful business of living with unending pain. She was predeceased by her husband, Armin, both of her parents, her brothers - Tony, Joe, Mike, Peter, Eddie and Stan - and her two sisters, Nellie and Olga. She is survived by her children, Sharon Tefs (Shane and Tara; Robyn), Wayne Tefs and Kristen (Andrew), and Kelly Bekeris and Shud (Loren and Stefano; Sarah; Andri; Nikolai), and by her sister, June. She was born to Christina and Anthony Spelchak on a homestead in Pine Ridge, a location for which she felt a lifelong kinship and love. For her parents and siblings, she always expressed a deep and abiding loyalty. She married Armin in l943 in Winnipeg, and together they moved to Atikokan, Fort Frances, Steinbach and back to Winnipeg. She was a devoted and tireless mother, and a talented help-mate to Armin in business and house construction. She was always an avid and successful seamstress, cook and gardener, and later became an extraordinary grandmother. Until her health declined in the last few years, she was known for her social excursions (usually driving her l982 Malibu), her extensive hat collection, and her fabulous smile. We will miss her, of course, but she will be with us always. We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all at Riverview, especially Krystyna on CD1, and all the staff on AB2. The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Seasons Funeral Chapel, 576 Balsam Crescent in Oakbank. Interment will follow at the Ukrainian National Cemetery.
