DOUGLAS RICHARD GIBSON After a courageous battle, and with his loved ones with him, Doug Gibson passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 31 years. Doug leaves behind his beloved wife Cynthia and best bud Tucker; his mom and dad, Henrietta and Rick; his grandparents, Arnold and Wilhelmina Jansen, Margaret Gibson; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be missed by his in-laws Rick and Denise Evans, Melissa and Chris Sparks, his niece Kailynn and nephew Dean. He was predeceased by his grandfather Don Gibson and his cousin Daniel Kratzer. Doug grew up in Stonewall, MB and graduated from Stonewall Collegiate Institute and then went on to study Natural Resources Technology at Lakeland College, graduating in 2000. After graduation he worked in NL and SK and travelled overseas and upon his return went to work at the Experimental Lakes Area in north-western Ontario where he met his wife Cynthia in 2001. He continued his work in the environmental field by joining North/South Consultants Inc. where he had happily fished and travelled for a living. Cynthia and Doug were married in Gimli in 2008 and moved into their dream home in St. Clements in 2010. Doug enjoyed being with his family and friends and could always be counted on to lend a hand. He had a love for the outdoors, volunteered with the St. Boniface Wildlife Association and spent all of his free time hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Doug also loved anything with a motor in it and was a dedicated NASCAR fan. Thank you to the staff at HSC (MICU/CCU) for your care and support that you gave to Doug and his family. We will be gathering to celebrate Doug's life on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 459 Main Street, Stonewall MB. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Doug's memory to Manitoba Wildlife Federation, 70 Stevenson Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3H 0W7. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.

  • To my beloved good friend Doughy. I am extremely saddened this evening with the knowledge that Doug is no longer with us. I have just found out this evening of his passing. I knew Doug from Lakeland college. We were class mates and great friends.Unfortunately we had lost touch with each other after I moved away from Winnipeg back in 2004. He was a wonderful person. Funny, kind, a Pearson that everyone loved and to know. I just wish we had stayed in touch. I am soooo sorry that I was unaware of the tradigy that had fallen upon him and his family. I am so sorry for your loss. He's deeply missed in my heart. And I will always remember him. - Posted by: kriscinda maki (an old friend) on: May 31, 2015
