MAURO D'ANDREAMATTEO July 19, 1947 - June 26, 2011 Suddenly and tragically with his wife by his side on June 26, 2011, Mauro D'Andreamatteo, passed away in Thompson, MB at the age of 63 years. Dad was predeceased by his mother-in-law (Anne Smith). Left to mourn are his parents (Michelle and Lucia), wife (Nancy); siblings Joseph (Yvonne); Rita DiCarlo (Nicholas); father-in-law Kenneth Smith; brother-in-law Ray Smith (Rita); several nieces and nephews; dad's four children Tina, Carla, Juliana, Dino (Chantelle). Most sadly dad leaves behind the absolute joy of his life, his grandchildren Emily, Alyx, Marco, Jesika and Micheal. A strong work ethic doesn't even begin to describe the efforts our dad gave to his cooking career or any other venture he took on throughout his life (Fish and Fries, Nelson Pizza, Northern Inn to name a very few). We will always remember his love for fishing, bowling, and of course horse racing. People loved our dad. He was funny, he was generous and just an absolute great guy to be around. He was exceptionally loyal as a friend to many. If dad wasn't spending time entertaining children for a laugh he was sneaking people food to any dog he met. He absolutely loved animals, particularly his Fur-Baby Daisy. Many in the city of Thompson knew funny Mario and we know that you will all miss him too. He loved people for who they were and wanted the simple things in life, happiness for his kids being top on that list. The great stories that we have heard about our dad from all of you have been a pleasure to remember through your eyes. He was a gem and a gentle, gentle soul like no other we have known. It is unbelievable to be writing this because our dad loved life and wanted to enjoy retiring with our mom in the next year. Dad, you were taken before we could say goodbye. We love you and will miss you so very much. A service will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 1:30 pm at Mosaic Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. with interment following at St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Rd, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Thompson Humane Society.

  • Mauro and my father where close freinds I always enjoyed listening to them banter about some sport. At that point Mauro would goad dad into some kind of bet especially if it was boxing. I really miss that. - Posted by: Frank jr (Family freinds ) on: Jun 27, 2016
