Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON DEACON Gordon Deacon was promoted to glory on June 29, 2011. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Erva Winnifred Deacon (nee Bond) in 2001 after 59 years of marriage. He was predeceased by his brothers Kenny, Ivor and David. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his eight children, Winn Blackman (Bill), Sharon Wynne (Ted), Marg Neitzke (Bruce), Gordon (Cathy), Art (Barb), Paul (Fern), Erva Ritson (Don), and Ruth Moulton (Jim). His memory will live on in the hearts of his 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Ron Walker and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews across Canada. Gordon was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on March 3, 1922 to Arthur and Annie Deacon. He was a hardworking coal miner in Glace Bay when he and Erva decided to move their large family to Winnipeg. He worked for the City of Winnipeg for 25 years before enjoying his well-deserved retirement. Gordon was a faithful soldier of the Salvation Army. A funeral service will be held at the Salvation Army Heritage Park Temple on Monday, July 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with refreshments to follow. Special thanks to Golden West Centennial Lodge.
