Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR MCDONALD Victor came to the end of his life's journey on the morning of June 26th, 2011, at the age of 91 and went home to be with our Lord. Left to remember his love and cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Helga; his three daughters, Geri McDonald (Ellis Shippam), Esther Ann Boutin and Denise Mlodzinski (Ken); his nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, Todd Davies, Justin, Christian and Kyla; Kent Davies; Casey Davies, Alex and Sam; Georgi Ann Wiens (Ivo) Lovissa and a sister on the way; Gyula Vandor (Lelia) Jessyca and Jordan; Cindy King (Trevor) Jared, Maddy and Harrison; Lovita Penner (Thomas) Myla; Adam Mlodzinski (Jacquie) Timothy and James, and Renise Mlodzinski. Also the Tebay families in Saskatchewan, brother-in-law Jim, nephew Victor, nieces Mary and Joanne, and many other relatives and friends. Victor was born on July 14, 1919, son of Walter and Lizzie McDonald in Rossdale, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, four sisters (Esther, Kathleen, Grace and Isabel), three brothers (Percy, Thomas and Clarence) and grandson Marc Boutin in 1999. His early years of hardship were instrumental in forming his upright character, exhibited by his consistent sense of responsibility to his family and strong work ethic. From 1939 to 1948, he worked at Fairield Woolen Mills and then at Selkirk Rolling Mills as a welder until his retirement at age 62. Four years ago when health issues began to appear they left their lovely cozy Selkirk home of 63 years and moved into Winnipeg to live with Denise and Ken. As a young man he enjoyed playing soccer, baseball, skating and later on in his life, bowling and particularly the game of golf. But more than to these activities, Dad's heart belonged to his wife, Helga, his daughters and to each of his grandchildren. This devotion was mirrored by Mom who was by his side daily, taking care of him. We have all been blessed with having the influence of this special man in our lives and the legacy he leaves all of us is the desire to reach the level of integrity that he displayed in all of his lifelong endeavours. He was also a man who was steadfast in his faith. We would like to thank the staff and care- givers at Vista Park Lodge and most recently at River Park Gardens for their kindness and compassionate care, doing their utmost to maintain his sense of dignity through till the very end. Thank you to Mavis, his table-mate, for being so diligent in watching over him. A special thank you to Tammy, who through caring so lovingly for our Dad has become very dear to all of us. A service honouring his life will be celebrated on Monday, July 4th at 1:30 pm at Christ Church, 227 McLean Ave, Selkirk MB with Chaplain Lynne Austen officiating. Should anyone desire to donate in Victor's name, you may do so to Selkirk Christ Church, where Helga and Victor have been members their entire married life. Thank you to Gilbart Funeral Home and Rob Laycock for their prompt and personal attention given to us at this time. Private interment at Cloverdale will take place at a later date. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
