DOREEN ALVA (WALKER) MCKENZIE (nee BELSHAM) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Alva (Walker) McKenzie nee Belsham with her family by her side. She passed on June 28, 2011 at 78 years old in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She will be sadly missed by her husband, William Alexander McKenzie, her children: Catherine Darlene (Walker) Guilbault, (Raymond), grandchildren, Christopher, and great grandchildren Hannah, Gabrielle, Sophie and Adian, and Patrick. Robert Joseph Walker, (Oxana), grandchildren Sasha and Daniel. Tom (Thomas) Gary Walker, (Toni), grandchildren Amber and Kyle, (Sheri), great-grandchildren, Koltyn and Sadie. Paul Kenneth Walker (Brenda), grandchildren Scott and Ben, and her sister, Bernice Nichols. She was predeceased by her first husband Reginald Walker. Thanks to the caring medical staff at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Emergency Dept. Special thanks to Iona and Darlene for their friendship and compassionate care during Doreen's illness. Special thanks also to the 65 Club executive and members at the South Osborne Legion (Fort Rouge Legion). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home. Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with interment service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Following the internment a light luncheon and refreshments will be served at Winnipeg South Osborne Legion, 426 Osborne St. Doreen was a longtime member of the Winnipeg South Osborne Legion and served as an executive member for the Legion and an executive member for the 65 Club . A loving and devoted mother, devoted wife and loyal friend to those who knew her. She loved animals and was rarely without a beloved pet in her life. In her early years she spent summers at Grand Beach. Throughout her life she always loved to dance and spend fun-filled time with her friends. Devoted to her friends and family she lived her life with enthusiasm, perseverance and laughter. Please come and celebrate her life with us.
