Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD WESLEY FERRIS February 16, 1923 - June 27, 2011 Died suddenly at home on June 27, 2011. He is predeceased by his wife Betty; daughter Sharyne; grandson Jimmy; his parents, Edger and Nellie Ferris; four sisters, Alma Fewster, Gladys Guerin, Marjorie English, and Ethel Milne; and his brother Harold Ferris. He is survived by two sons Brian and Brent Ferris; his daughter Darlene Fehr (Bernie); son-in-law Abbey Newman; nine grandchildren, Wade, Corey, Helen, Skeet, Lana, Martha, Ben, Darla, and Curtis; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dad grew up on the farm west of Carmen, Manitoba. He joined the army in 1943 and was discharged in 1945 to go home to look after the farm with his parents. After leaving the farm, he worked at various trades; including construction, security with the commissionaires, and as a heavy equipment operator in the potash mines. After retiring, he and Betty bought a fifth wheel and travelled between Ontario and BC. They enjoyed travelling to different parts of the country attending fairs and rodeos, and stopping in to visit kids and grandkids along the way. After Betty passed away Lloyd moved back to Carmen and a year later to Stonewall to be closer to family. He stayed pretty close to home during the winter, but come spring he'd get out on his scooter going to the bank, grocery shopping and sometimes to church. He enjoyed the friends he made at Crocus Manor and was proud when we put on the occasional February birthday party at Crocus. He loved singing and music! He was especially proud of Robyn playing her fiddle and Erin playing her guitar. He loved it when the grandkids and great-grandkids sang gospel choruses that he and his friends at Crocus could sing along. He really enjoyed the social activities at Crocus shuffleboard, bingo and lawn bowling. Grandpa remembered every birthday and anniversary that came around and the grandkids could count on getting a birthday card with some cash. He enjoyed it when Brent and Brian stopped by when they occassionally came through town they drove him here, there and everywhere. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Carmen Cemetery on Friday, July 8, at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow in Stonewall. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall, in care of arrangements.
